SPECIALIZATION IN SEA AND FRESHWATER FISH: REDFISH, CATFISH, SAITHE, COD, HALIBUT AND HADDOCK

Redfish

The natural habitat is the deep waters of the North and West Atlantic. The redfish lives up to 400 meters below sea level. They are herd animals that reach a maximum of one meter in length and 15 kilograms in weight.

Saithe

Saithe is a sea fish from the cod family. It is found in the North Atlantic, although it is quite common in the North Sea. It lives 200-300 meters below the surface and has a lifespan of 15 to 18 years. Saithe grows up to 120 cm in body length, although its average length is 60-90 cm.

Catfish

The catfish are on average 50–80 cm long. They live on both the eastern and western shores of the North Atlantic. They prefer very cold water (even 1-2 ° C) and depths from the surface up to 500 meters, although they are mainly found between 20 and 120 meters deep.
